Baseball Trip to Detroit - October 6-9, 2006
These pictures were taken with my Fujifilm Finepix S9000 digital
camera on a trip to see the 4th game of the American League Division
Series at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan. We left from
Williamstown, Massachusetts, after work on October 6, saw game Game 4
of the American League Division Series between the Detroit Tigers and
New York Yankees on October 7, and drove home on October 8.
Images on the pages linked from here are shown at a resolution of

Williamstown, Massachusetts, to Grimsby, Ontario. Not many pictures,
since the majority of the ride was in the dark. There are two groups:
some fall foliage in the hills of Rensselaer County [2 Pictures], and a handful from the roads
[6 Pictures]. The day's highlight was a
late dinner in Buffalo at the Anchor Bar (wings, of course). The
border crossing on the Peace Bridge was quick and easy and we got into
the hotel in Grimsby before midnight.

We got on the road from Grimsby [2
Pictures] before too late. We had a smooth ride up the QEW and
across 403 to 401 right into Windsor [29
Pictures]. After lunch at a Swiss Chalet, we crossed into Detroit
on the Ambassador Bridge [4 Pictures].
We made our way through Detroit [6
Pictures] to Comerica Park for the baseball game. Pictures are
divided into those before the game [24
Pictures] and during the game [33
Pictures]. [Scorecards]. After
the very disappointing game, we were able to make a quick exit from
the park and from our lot and got onto I-75 with no traffic trouble.
We checked into the Comfort Suites in Warren and got dinner from the
nearby Bob Evans.

We started by looking around the Detroit area a bit, first with a
drive to the Grosse Pointe area. Unfortunately, things were pretty
foggy near Lake St. Clair, so there aren't many good pictures (mostly
roads or fog) [12 Pictures]. We made
a nice stop at Belle Isle Park, with nice views of Detroit and Windsor
[48 Pictures]. Next, a drive through
downtown Detroit [18 Pictures]. We saw
warnings of construction delays on I-75, so we ended up taking US 24
south to Toledo instead [11 Pictures].
After a ride through Toledo on I-75 [4
Pictures], we took a different route eastbound - along US 20. US
20 took us through several towns but was reasonably quick [50 Pictures]. Before getting back onto the
main roads for the rest of our trip, we took a quick side trip into
Oberlin [11 Pictures]. After that, it
was mainly I-480/I-271/I-90 [31
Pictures] back to the Albany area. We got back to Williamstown
around 1 AM.
