Kannapolis Intimidators at Asheville Tourists - August 12, 2002

The South Atlantic League game between Kannapolis and Asheville at McCormick Field in Asheville. This is a "long season" Class A league.

My seat was on the first base line, first row just beyond the dugout. There is a net, obviously. [800x600][1600x1200]

The game is underway, though I got mostly net. [800x600][1600x1200]

Right field ads. It's a high wall and you have to clear the whole thing for a home run. It's only 300 down the line, 325 (I think) below the scoreboard. [800x600][1600x1200]

The Tourists' bullpen. [800x600][1600x1200]

The mascot. Ted E. Bear. [800x600][1600x1200]

The Tourists' Nick Gretz singles in the fourth. [800x600][1600x1200]

He's on first, held on by former Albany-Colonie Diamond Dog Scott McKee as Ryan Wing delivers. [800x600][1600x1200]

I think this is Mike Tejada at bat. [800x600][1600x1200]

Kannapolis shortstop Mike Morse. [800x600][1600x1200]

It's historic. Apparently players including Ty Cobb and Lou Gehrig have played on this field. [800x600][1600x1200]

Not sure who this is. [800x600][1600x1200]

Kannapolis has the bases loaded for Chris Amador. He forced a runner at home by grounding to third. [800x600][1600x1200]

Unfortunately for the Tourists, their bullpen was horrible and the game got out of hand. As Rockies' farmhands, perhaps this is just how they prepare for future life in Coors Field. [800x600][1600x1200]
