Florida - June 21-July 4, 2006

These pictures were taken during a trip to Florida for Beth and Jeff's wedding in Naples. They were taken with my Fujifilm FinePix S9000 digital camera. Most images are shown at a resolution of 640x480, but are available in full 3488x2616 size by clicking on the links after the captions. From the drives, most of the pictures are just roads and signs.

Day trip to the upper keys and Miami area on this day. The first stop was to see Martha's Habitat project [4 Pictures]. After lunch in Homestead [Picture], we crossed into the keys on the Card Sound Bridge [8 Pictures]. We drove as far as Islamorada before turning back [40 Pictures]. Next, a stop at Biscayne National Park [36 Pictures]. Before heading back, we drove up through Miami [6 Pictures] and across to Miami Beach [15 Pictures]. There are also lots of pictures just from the roads [51 Pictures].

No major events, but pictures are from Lowdermilk Beach [7 Pictures], of the rising floor tiles [4 Pictures], and bowling [29 Pictures].

Saturday, July 1, 2006

Time to head home, but there's time to take it a lot slower back north. Day 1, just Naples to Jacksonville. The intent was to catch the launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery on the way up, but the launch was scrubbed. Pictures are from Naples before leaving [4 Pictures], traffic and things in the Orlando area [4 Pictures], and the ride up US 17 [42 Pictures]. There are also plenty of pictures just from the roads again [26 Pictures].

Sunday, July 2, 2006

A fairly short but interesting travel day. We drove up US 1 from Jacksonville, Florida, to Augusta, Georgia. Pictures are broken into northern Florida [5 Pictures] and Georgia [31 Pictures] pages. After some time checking out Augusta and in particular the River Walk [34 Pictures], we watched the Augusta Greenjackets beat the Lexington Legends in a South Atlantic League game. Pictures there are from before the game [10 Pictures], from our seats behind the plate [13 Pictures], from a higher spot on the third base side [47 Pictures], and after the game [6 Pictures]. And as usual, there is a page for the less interesting stuff from the roads [23 Pictures].

Monday, July 3, 2006

A longer day, but we took our time for at least part of it. After an unsuccessful look for an Augusta National hat and shirt, we headed through South Carolina on I-20 and I-77, up through North Carolina on I-77, and into Virginia [9 Pictures]. There, we managed something more interesting: about 90 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway [67 Pictures]. When we got to Roanoke, we headed back for I-81 and on to Stephens City for the night. And the page of less interesting signs and roads [44 Pictures].

Tuesday, July 4, 2006

A morning stop in Harpers Ferry to see Harpers Ferry National Historical Park [45 Pictures], then on home along US 15, I-81, I-78, I-287, I-87.. [15 Pictures from the Road] 3900+ miles for the trip.
