Pi'ilani Highway, Maui, Hawaii - August 26, 2006

We took the southern route back to civilization, against the advice of some, not to mention the terms of the rental car contract. It was worth it.


We switch from Hana to Pi'ilani. [Closer]

The Hana Highway is nothing compared to this one.

Very long, narrow one-way stretches on this two-way road.

Then the pavement ends from time to time.

Then the cattle come out. [Closer]

The procession following a very slow blue truck. Later in the ride, several people would pass the blue truck. This did not sit well with him, and he took it upon himself to pass everyone back at very unsafe speeds in very unsafe places. We later saw him headed back out the highway. [Closer]

Not just cattle, we have horses on the road. [1744x1308]
