PCL Playoffs: Nashville at Albuquerque - September 5, 2003

On to extra innings, tied at 7.

The 'Topes worked a 1-2-3 top of the 10th and head in with a chance to win it in the bottom half. [2048x1536]

Abraham Nunez batting in the 10th. He struck out. [2048x1536]

Robert Stratton drives one to right, but it stays in the park. [2048x1536]

Then a strikeout by Paul Hoover. [2048x1536]

And we move on to the 11th. Wipe the board clean to make room for the next 10 innings! Notice that Ferris Bueller is on the screen telling the Isotopes to Twist and Shout. [2048x1536]

Not a good start for Albuquerque in the 11th, as Nashville's Tomas De La Rosa leads off with a triple into the deepest part of left center. [2048x1536]

And the Sounds go on to score three in the 11th. Albuquerque tries to get something going with pinch hitter and former major leaguer Chris Donnels at the plate. Donnels struck out, followed by a line out by Matt Erickson. It was up to Kevin Hooper, who walked to keep it alive. [2048x1536]

Then it was Derek Wathan, who tripled to bring the Isotopes within 2 and the tying run to the plate. [2048x1536]

Up comes Jason Wood. [2048x1536]

2-run game-tying home run for Wood! No doubt about it either, as it went well up into the picnic area. [2048x1536]

Wood rounds third. [2048x1536]

And gets mobbed by his teammates. [2048x1536]

So we stand at 10-10 as we pass 11 PM. [2048x1536]

Uh oh. 2 more Nashville runs in the 12th. The Isotopes have some work to do again. [2048x1536]

Abraham Nunez starts off with a fly ball to center. [2048x1536]

After a Stratton strikeout and a Hoover walk, it's up to pinch hitter Matt Treanor to keep it going. [2048x1536]

But no, it's a popup to center. [2048x1536]

Game over, 4 hours and 20 minutes later. Nashville takes a 2-1 lead in the best-of-5. [2048x1536]
