New York - August 2, 2003

These pictures were taken with my Olympus C730 Ultra Zoom digital camera in New York on August 2, 2003, during a visit mainly to lower Manhattan with several others. Most images are shown at a resolution of 640x480, but are available in 1024x768 and full 2048x1536 sizes by clicking on the links after the captions.

After meeting up with Amitha, Darren and Rob in Troy, we drove to Valhalla to meet up with with Rick and Maria. We decided to go into the city, and with major subway disruptions underway, we drove down to lower Manhattan and got some parking on the street near Pace University. We checked out Rick's office at Pace, then walked down to the financial district [10 Pictures]. Then on to Battery Park, where we saw the Sphere sculpture that was pulled from the WTC wreckage [2 Pictures] and checked out the views from there [4 Pictures]. We decided to take the Staten Island Ferry for a free tour of New York Harbor. We got great views on the way across [10 Pictures], walked around the ferry terminal on Staten Island, where the Brooklyn Cyclones and Staten Island Yankees were preparing to play [3 Pictures], then got some more great views on the ride back [11 Pictures]. We then walked over to the WTC Site and across to City Hall and the Brooklyn Bridge around dusk. We had a smooth ride back up to Valhalla and then back to Troy and Williamstown.
