Some of you have asked, others get it anyway.. San Francisco was good. The flight out was nice - it was mostly clear so I saw a lot including Aspen. My talk went well on the first day of the conference, and after that I could enjoy the rest of the conference and get to see some more of SF. We saw some of the tourist places (Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf, Lombard St) and got to some good restaurants. Lots and lots of walking. On Saturday after the conference I was staying for the cheap airfare on Sunday morning so I rented a car for the day. We (Michelle, another grad student from RPI attending the conference, and I) headed up over the Golden Gate Bridge, to Muir Woods, Muir Beach (it was cold and windy there), and Point Reyes. Point Reyes was also cold and windy plus foggy. We did the walk to the lighthouse at the end anyway. Then it was across to San Rafael and over to the East Bay. Then the ball game in Oakland that night before heading home Sunday. Landing in Albany, we approached over Schenectady and I got to see lots of familiar things from the sky. Very fun trip.
