Ride along California 1 from Pacifica to Santa Cruz, California - February 27, 2004

California 1, apparently known as the Cerillos Highway in this area, is a great ride. I hit a lot of traffic in the Half Moon Bay area, which I later learned was because of a famous surfing tournament. Too bad I didn't know it was famous, or I would have tried to stop and see what was going on.

It heads up into the hills for a bit. [2048x1536]

Then emerges high above the coast. [2048x1536]

This lighthouse looked like it was worth a stop. [2048x1536]

It's called the Pigeon Point Lighthouse. [2048x1536]

Unfortunately, a piece of it fell off a few years ago, so you can't go up it any longer. [2048x1536]

More surf crashing onto the rocks, this time at the lighthouse. [2048x1536]
