Madonna Mountain at Smugglers' Notch - February 3, 2003

On the Madonna 1 Summit Lift. [800x600][1600x1200]

The lift above the Upper Liftline trail. [800x600][1600x1200]

Yes, the trail has plenty of ice and rocks. [800x600][1600x1200]

[800x600][1600x1200]

Getting closer to the top, the trees are getting more and more frosty. [800x600][1600x1200]

A view off toward the left from the lift. [800x600][1600x1200]

[800x600][1600x1200]

Near the top, the trail is a double diamond - a very well-deserved rating. [800x600][1600x1200]

[800x600][1600x1200]

Close to the summit, the trees have a thick snowy crust on them. [800x600][1600x1200]

This alone should be enough to make anyone want to learn to ski. [800x600][1600x1200]

From the ski patrol/warming hut deck at the summit of Madonna Mountain, the view is spectacular. The lift is the top of Madonna 1. The ski trails in the distance at part of Stowe. The highest peak is Mount Mansfield, the highest peak in Vermont. [800x600][1600x1200]

A view out across Vermont. Notice the snow-capped mountains in the distance. I think this view is to the south, so the tall mountains are probably in central Vermont, around Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. Not sure, though. [800x600][1600x1200]

Another view of Stowe and Mount Mansfield. [800x600][1600x1200]
