Thanksgiving Trip - November 20-26, 2012

These pictures and movies were taken on a trip to Florida and a cruise to the Bahamas from November 20-26, 2012. They were taken with my Fujifilm Finepix S9000 digital camera and Cathy's iPhone. We were dropped off in the morning at Albany airport [2 Pictures] for our direct flight [6 Pictures] to Fort Lauderdale. After a good flight and an annoying time picking up the rental car [Picture], we drove across to Naples [Sign Picture]. The only pictures from the rest of the day are at Big Daddy and Granmartha's [4 Pictures].

This was the free day in Naples. It included a golf cart ride for Katie [3 Pictures], a visit to see Mary at the beach [6 Pictures, 1 Movie], and a stop to see the girls [2 Pictures].

Thanksgiving day. We started at Pat and George's [4 Pictures], but spent most of the day at Big Daddy and Granmartha's house, where we had excellent company and an excellent meal [42 Pictures].

We started by packing up for the cruise and returning the spite car. Then it was off to Big Daddy and Granmartha's [Picture] for the big family picture session before taking the ride across to Miami to board the cruise [9 Pictures]. Boarding was fairly quick, and we had some time in port as more people boarded [9 Scenery Pictures][5 People Pictures]. As the sun was going down, Norwegian Sky left the port and headed out into the Atlantic [11 Pictures]. A bit later, we all gathered in the big cabin [4 Pictures] before heading off to dinner.

Our first full day of the cruise included a shore excursion to Norwegian Cruise Line's island - Great Stirrup Cay. Tenders [3 Pictures] started taking passengers to the island fairly early, and we headed over by mid-morning and spent most of the day there [17 Scenery Pictures][17 People Pictures]. We tendered back [2 Pictures] mid-afternoon [6 Scenery Pictures][7 People Pictures, 1 Movie], and had an excellent sunset view [2 Pictures] from the big cabin before our large group dinner.

This was the day in port at Nassau, Bahamas [5 Pictures]. After breakfast [10 Pictures], all of our group went on the side trip to spend the day at Atlantis [25 Scenery Pictures][38 People Pictures]. At the end of the day, we made a stop at the hair braiding stand [10 Pictures] before clearing border control and walking back to the ship [3 Pictures of the Port]. In our cabin, we were greeted by a towel monkey [3 Pictures, 1 Movie]. Around sunset, we were back on our way out to sea [4 Scenery Pictures][3 Family Pictures].

Travel home day. In the morning [2 Pictures], we got breakfast, then headed to disembark at the appropriate time for those taking the shuttle to Fort Lauderdale. We had no problems getting our luggage or clearing customs. The shuttle waited around for about an hour, unfortunately, but we still got to the airport in plenty of time for our flight to Orlando then on home to Albany. Quite a trip - Thank you Big Daddy and Granmartha!
