The Matanuska Glacier at Glacier View Park, June 21, 2001

Andrew on some of this ice. We didn't have the right shoes for this kind of walk, but at least most of the ice had some sediment sticking through to help with traction. [800x600][1600x1200]

Rob and Andrew. [800x600][1600x1200]

Now we're getting a little closer to the big chunks of blue ice. They're a little out of reach, though, for our equipment. [800x600][1600x1200]

A neat little stream over ice and rocks. Unfortunately, many of the deep blue colors in the ice, especially in some of these stream beds, didn't come out very well. It all looks white and grey in these pictures, while they were really a deep blue. [800x600][1600x1200]

A larger rock in a stream. [800x600][1600x1200]

A lot of the smaller streams on the ice form these winding channels. [800x600][1600x1200]

A look back toward the car on our way back. The car is the small blue object to the right of the cone-shaped mound. [800x600][1600x1200]

This little pond had a really deep, deep blue color. [800x600][1600x1200]

Another look over at the lowest large chunk of blue ice. [800x600][1600x1200]
