Hot Springs, Arkansas - July 24, 2005
Early in the day, we made a side trip to Hot Springs.
We took US 270 over from where we stayed in Malvern.
[2048x1536]
Then business US 270 into town.
[2048x1536]
Arrival in Hot Springs.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
Entering the downtown business district.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
A national park right in a city.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
Bathhouse row.
[2048x1536]
There are hot springs like this everywhere.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
Inside the restored bathhouse that now serves as the headquarters and visitor center for Hot Springs National Park.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
Down in the basement, the elevator machinery.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
And spring water tanks.
[2048x1536]
And a decorated spring.
[2048x1536]
Back outside along bathhouse row.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
Up behind Bathhouse Row, there's a paved walking trail.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
A few springs remain in their natural (or closer anyway) state.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
After walking around, we drove up Hot Springs mountain.
[2048x1536]
There's a tower up top, but we had no time.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
Overlook along the mountain road.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
Now on the way out back toward I-30.
