Driving through North Carolina - August 12, 2002
I-40 in North Carolina from the Tennesee line to Asheville.
Arrival at the North Carolina line on I-40.

And they extend a nice welcome.

But the road is still narrow and winding.

And then it started to rain on approach to the first tunnel.

The sun was out and the road dry at the second tunnel.

At the rest area/welcome center, the GPS thought we were at elevation 2400. We didn't go very high, but the road was plenty interesting.
