Needles Overlook, Utah - September 27, 2003

I was fortunate enough to choose this side trip, about a half hour off US 191, as my last stop before heading toward Albuquerque. Keep in mind that this is another thing that wasn't good enough to make the national park, apparently. I really need to get to Canyonlands NP. The pictures here may be redundant, but the view in every direction seemed worthy of a picture or two.

The view from the parking lot looks pretty good. [2048x1536]

Stay behind the fence or fall in. [2048x1536]

That's a cliff. [2048x1536]

Lichens on the other side of the fence. [2048x1536]

You can see the dirt road in the canyon. That seems like a thing to do some time. [2048x1536]

There's some neat stuff up here out of the canyon, too. [2048x1536]

[2048x1536]

Amazing. It's a bit smoky. There seems to be a fire off on the other side of the canyon. [2048x1536]

The fire is over there. [2048x1536]

Smoky but blurred zoom in on the area where the smoke is rising. [2048x1536]

These may be the needles for which the overlook is named. [2048x1536]

[2048x1536]

It's kind of hard to see, but there's a band of green down there right along the river. [2048x1536]
