Summer Trip Last Part: Naples to Amsterdam - July 15-17, 2013

After a nice time in Florida, it was time to head home.

July 15 - Naples, Florida, to Port Wentworth, Georgia

We decided to make one overnight stop on our ride to avoid a full overnight drive. We left Napels mid-morning with the Savannah, Georgia, area as our target. It was an uneventful ride up I-75, US 301, and I-95, and we arrived at the hotel 9 hours after leaving. The food for the day came from some of our favorites: Firehouse Subs in Brandon, Florida, and Zaxby's back in the room in Port Wentworth. [16 Roads/Signs Pictures]

July 16 - Port Wentworth, Georgia, to I-81 north of Scranton, Pennsylvania

With a long ride ahead of us, we got on the road pretty early from Port Wentworth. Given the timing, we decided that our usual route up I-95 through the big cities might not be a good idea. So after a little delay because an oversized load was stuck on an I-95 off ramp in South Carolina [2 Pictures], we took I-26 and I-77 up to I-81, where we traveled for the rest of the day and evening. We ended up at another Firehouse Subs in Charlotte, and a Chick-fil-a in northern Virginia for dinner. We were a bit north of Scranton, Pennsylvania, on I-81 when midnight came. July 17 - I-81 to Amsterdam, New York

We continued on past midnight, up I-81 and I-88, then Route 30 to Amserdam, arriving home before 3 AM. This ended a run of 1027 miles since we left Port Wentworth, Georgia, which we did in 18:24. Overall, we covered 4818 miles over 26 days.
