Skiing Gore - March 29, 2023

My posting about the day on NYSkiBlog: It was a great day today at Gore. Definitely my best day of the season outside of Utah. It was the most runs, and most vertical for any day for me in at least a few years. I rode the gondola only twice, but every other open lift at least three times (except Sunway, which I did just once to end my day). Most of my days at Gore in recent years have been late season (like today) but unlike those other times, the vast majority of Gore's terrain was open and very nice today. I'd barely skied any Gore glades before today and was very happy to correct that. I made my first ever runs through Barkeater, new (to me) parts of Straight Brook, two ways down through Dark Side, as well as Macintyre and Otter Slide glades. All were a lot of fun, with the snow easy to turn in but not too heavy and only a few, easily-avoided, thin spots. Being my first time at Gore this season, it was also my first chance to ski Backwoods, which I did early in the day and enjoyed a lot. So many things were really good, but I'd go with Dark Side as my favorite on the day. I can now understand why "Betty Loved This Trail" after seeing that sign so many times.
