Kenyon Research Trip - November 17-19, 2025

These pictures are from my trip from Amsterdam, New York, to Gambier, Ohio, and back for a research project with Kenyon College. Pictures are from my Panasonic Lumix FZ80 and my Pixel 6a phone. The purpose of the trip was for the research project but I also had a little time to drive around the area a bit and those travels are on this TM map.

Tuesday, November 17 - Amsterdam, New York, to Columbus, Ohio

After class and a department meeting, I left for Albany Airport to catch my late afternoon flight to Baltimore then on to Columbus. All were uneventful, and my lengthy layover in Baltimore allowed me to get some work done. On arrival at John Glenn Columbus Airport (my first time there and actually first time at any airport in Ohio), I got the rental car shuttle, quickly got my car, and make the drive up to the north side of the Columbus area for the night at a Drury Inn.

Wednesday, November 18 - Columbus, Ohio, to Gambier, Ohio

I got on my way from Columbus on a cold and cloudy day toward Mount Vernon. I got there mid-morning and stopped at the Planet Fitness. I still had some time before my scheduled arrival at the college, so I took an hour-long loop to the east, came back to Mount Vernon for lunch at Bob Evans, then a shorter driving loop that took me to nearby Gambier and Kenyon College. I parked at the Kenyon Inn where I'd be checking in later and walked over for my afternoon and evening of meetings, dinner at the Village Inn, and class. The visit was interesting and productive. Thursday, November 19 - Gambier, Ohio, to Amsterdam, New York

This was just a transit day, with a goal of being back home in time for a 5:00 dog training class. I got on my way from the Kenyon Inn [Picture] in Gambier by 8:30 for a drive down US 62 that started with a lot of pretty dense fog. I stopped for breakfast at a Tim Horton's in New Albany, and to fill the rental car's tank in Gahanna. I was at the rental car return before 10 for my noon flight. Everything was quick and I was in the terminal much earlier than needed. Around 11, I grabbed some pizza for lunch. The flight was delayed just a bit. The flight was fine and ended up arriving in Baltimore more or less on time. I had a short layover this time. The flight to Albany was pretty full and I somehow ended up with a bad boarding position so I had to gate check my bag and had no choice but middle seats (though I got row 3) on the short flight. On arrival in Albany, it took a bit for the bags to come out. I still made it home soon enough to get to dog obedience class just in time. [9 Pictures]
