October 17: Amsterdam, New York, to South Portland, Maine
No pictures from this day, which consisted of an after-work drive on familiar roads.
October 18: Big Waves and College Hockey in Maine
After a morning visiting, we made a ride out to Two Lights State Park to see the high surf generated by Hurricane Gonzalo out in the Atlantic [15 Scenery Pictures and Movie][15 People Pictures]. After lunch from Dock's Seafood, the hockey attendees headed off to Orono [6 Road and Sign Pictures], while Cathy and Katie stayed and later made a stop at L.L. Bean. The hockey group made an early dinner stop at Pat's Pizza just south of Bangor, then continued up to see Union Hockey visit the Maine Black Bears [10 Pictures]. Union took a 5-2 win. We headed back to South Portland after the game, arriving after midnight.
October 19: South Portland, Maine, to Amsterdam, New York
After a breakfast of some excellent doughnuts, we got on our way home. We made a quick stop in Kittery to buy a bike attachment. Our ride ended up being significantly longer than expected because of a big accident in the Berkshires on the Mass Pike (we took US 20 and probably saved a couple hours by doing so), and lots of slow patches of traffic elsewhere.
