Minnesota and Maine, October 13-18, 1999

Wednesday, October 13, 1999
• The trip out was longer than expected. The flight from Albany to Cincinnatti was fine, but there were delays getting out of Cincinnatti. So after a few hours watching the first game of the ALCS between the Yankees and Red Sox in the Comair terminal, the flight finally made it out. Arrival in Minnepolis was after 11 CDT, and minus my garment bag. I didn't make it to the Holiday Inn Metrodome until after midnight local time, long after Bernie Williams' game winning home run in the baseball game.

  Thursday, October 14, 1999

• This was Day 1 of the Graph Partitioning Workshop at AHPCRC. With no garmet bag, I had to give my talk in a sweatshirt. Oh well.
• The Mall and Famous Dave's. Game 2 of the ALCS was on. Got to see this one!

  Friday, October 15, 1999

• Friday morning, views from the room.
• The workshop only went until early afternoon. This was followed by a drive around the area.
• Later, a walk to dinner and a hockey game over on the east bank of the campus.

  Saturday, October 16, 1999

• It was on to Maine today, again via Cincinnatti. The flight from Cincinnatti to Portland went right over Albany. It was very impressive with mostly clear skies, so I tried to take some pictures of the Capital District from 33,000 feet.

  Sunday, October 17, 1999

• Paul and Julie's wedding day - and there are pictures from the ceremony at Portland Head Light and the reception at the Snow Squall Restaurant.

  Monday, October 18, 1999

• The plane ride home involved a stop in Boston, making the trip take longer than driving - it takes less than 4.5 hours to drive, but over 5 hours to fly (door to door).
