Western Wisconsin - October 10, 2004
We crossed into Wisconsin for a little while, from US 63 to Nelson.

The plan is to take Wisconsin 35, the Great River Road, south along the Mississippi.

[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
There were plenty of nice views of the river.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
Lots of bluffs overlooking the Mississippi.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
County AA is marked as a "rustic road".
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
From a wayside, looking south.
[2048x1536]
Looking north.
[2048x1536]
Looking east at a bluff across the road.
[2048x1536]
And looking west into Minnesota.
[2048x1536]
I believe this is Stockholm, Wisconsin.
[2048x1536]
Must be. There's a Swedish flag.
[2048x1536]
Pepin, Wisconsin is the birthplace of Laura Ingalls Wilder.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
And there's a whole museum about her.
[2048x1536]
A famous glass plate in the museum. Cathy says it's the plate that
survived the fire and that anyone who read the books would know what
it is.
[2048x1536]
One of the museum displays.
[2048x1536]
Side street where we parked in Pepin.
[2048x1536]
Continuing south, we passed a lot of wetlands.
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
[2048x1536]
Coming up on the bridge back across to Minnesota.
