This trip was to present a lightning talk and a tutorial at the CCSC Southeast 2023 conference at Coastal Carolina University. Many of the pictures were taken with my Fujifilm Finepix HS50 camera, with some from Cathy's iPhone and from my iPad Pro. Pictures are linked from within the trip report below.
Thursday, November 2 - Amsterdam, New York, to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Just one picture [Picture] from the ride down, as the route until well after dark was a very familiar one down the east coast. We brought sandwiches from Town and Country to get started, making our only meal stop on the way down a Chick-fil-A in Waldorf, Maryland. The new places were all in the dark late at night and in the early morning hours as we left I-95 in Lumberton to cut down to Myrtle Beach on US 74, NC 410, US 701, and SC 9. We arrived at our room at Jade Tree Cove in Myrtle Beach around 2 AM.
Friday, November 3 - CCSCSE and More in the Myrtle Beach Area
My conference didn't start until midday, so we had the morning at the room and to check out the nearby parts of the beach [3 Pictures][4 People Pictures]. I headed off to the CCSCSE Conference at Coastal Carolina [3 Pictures] and Cathy had the day for the beach [8 Pictures].
Saturday, November 4 - CCSCSE and More in the Myrtle Beach Area
We missed sunrise by a bit, but it was still a nice view from the Jade Tree Cove balcony in the morning [6 Pictures]. I had the first half of the day back at the conference, and Cathy had the time back at the beach. After lunch and the end of the conference, we spent some time back at the room and beach [4 Pictures]. Late in the day, we took a ride down through the center of Myrtle Beach [4 Pictures]. Our goal was Murrels Inlet to look around and have dinner. We found a place to park in the very busy area, walked around, got some dinner, and walked more after dark [26 Pictures][2 People Pictures]. Back at the Jade Tree Cove, we checked out the beach after dark for a while [11 Pictures, 1 Movie][2 People Pictures]. [4 Pictures from the Roads]
Sunday, November 5 - Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to Amsterdam, New York
On this long travel day, we started with a short visit to the beach [2 Pictures][2 People Pictures] before getting on our way. On the roads, we followed the coast up to Wilmington before cutting northward from there to get to I-95 and beyond. Lunch came from a Smithfield's near Rocky Mount, and dinner from a Chipotle in New Jersey. We arrived home just after midnight. [45 Pictures from the Roads]
