Nor'Easter in Williamstown, March 6, 2001

These pictures were taken with my Olympus C2100-Z digital camera in Williamstown, Massachusetts, on March 6, 2001, toward the end of a big snowstorm. Some media are calling it the "Blizzard of '01" but it was far from a blizzard. Plenty of snow but not much wind and not even all that cold. Williamstown seemed to end up with a little less than 2 feet of snow, probably closer to 20 inches. All images are 24-bit JPEGs and should be viewed on a 24-bit display. Quality is likely to be very poor when viewed on an 8-bit display. Most images are shown at a resolution of 640x480, but are available in 800x600 and full 1600x1200 sizes by clicking on the links after the captions.

Another view from the apartment. [800x600][1600x1200]

In the parking lot. The plow was through early in the morning, but left a snowbank behind and on the driver's side of my car. [800x600][1600x1200]

It was deep enough that opening the front door to the building required pushing against several inches of snow. It's mostly fluffy powder, so it wasn't a problem. [800x600][1600x1200]

A closer view of my car. It was parked here about 14 hours earlier. [800x600][1600x1200]

Other cars and more of the parking lot. [800x600][1600x1200]

Looking out toward the north. You can sort of make out the mountains now. [800x600][1600x1200]

Yes, there it is. [800x600][1600x1200]

Route 2 isn't so bad. [800x600][1600x1200]

But it isn't so great either, as we approach the Williams campus. [800x600][1600x1200]

I decided to take a walk around the campus to take some pictures. This is just outside of our building, TCL. [800x600][1600x1200]

Yes, it's Rte. 2 again. [800x600][1600x1200]

And it's Spring Street again. [800x600][1600x1200]
