St. Louis Road Trip - May 25-28, 2007
These pictures were taken with my Fujifilm Finepix S9000 digital camera
during a trip to St. Louis for a wedding shower from May 25-28, 2007.
Images are shown at a resolution of 640x480, but many are available
either in full size or cropped from the originals,
or in half size by clicking on the links after the captions.
Pictures from the trip are linked below. Cathy's pictures from the
shower and rehearsal dinner rehearsal are [here].

We left the Williamstown area around 1:30 PM and headed west. Our
first real stop was to get some takeout wings for dinner from the Anchor Bar
in Buffalo, which we ate at the Angola Service Area [4 Pictures]. Then it got dark and we kept
going. We were somewhere in Ohio when it became Saturday...

First light came part way across Illinois on I-70. The only pictures
from the morning are a few from I-255 into Missouri [5 Pictures]. After getting a little rest at
Phil and Martha's hotel room (ours wasn't available until afternoon),
I went off with Charles and Jill for some lunch and sightseeing, and
Cathy was off to the shower. The main sightseeing stop was the Route
66 State Park, built on the former Times Beach toxic cleanup site [38 Pictures]. After checking into the hotel,
we drove into St. Louis [2 Pictures].
We had some time before the game, so we walked around the Arch area [22 Pictures]. Then it was time for the
game: Washington Nationals vs. St. Louis Cardinals at the new
Busch Stadium (major league stadium number 33 in my count) [51 Pictures].

After taking the morning slow, we went out to meet Charles and Jill
for lunch at a favorite Thai restaurant of theirs and then on to their
house in Florissant to leave a car [14
Pictures]. From there, we visited Lone Elk Park [18 Pictures]. We made a ride up to the
butterfly park, but it was closing by the time we got there [7 Pictures]. We took the scenic route
back to Florissant, seeing the Missouri River along the road and at
Sioux Passage Park [12 Pictures]. After
that, it was time to head into the city for the "rehearsal dinner
rehearsal" at Schlafly's. From there, we hit the road home for a few
hours, stopping in Champaign, Illinois, for a short night.

The only objective for this Memorial Day was to get home at a
reasonable hour, so we hit the road by 6:30 AM CDT and started east.
We hit surprisingly little traffic as we passed by Indianapolis, Fort
Wayne, Toledo, Cleveland, Erie, and Buffalo. We made it back to
Williamstown right at midnight EDT, after a 950+-mile day done in 16
hours and 30 minutes. Since the pictures were all just from the
roads, they're on one big page: [71
Pictures]. 2350+ miles for the weekend.
