Ride to Myrtle Beach - July 20-21, 2019

These are the road, sign, and a few scenery pictures from our ride from Amsterdam, New York, to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for the first leg of our summer East Coast trip. Pictures are mostly from my Panasonic Lumix FZ80, with some from various Apple mobile devices.

Saturday, July 20 - Amsterdam, New York, to Emporia, Virginia

We decided on Emporia, Virginia, as our first night's destination on this trip. So many of our trips rush through the rides up and down the East Coast, but this year we decided to take a little more time. Day 1 started in familiar territory in New York and New Jersey [23 Pictures] (including a tasty lunch from a place called Gabby's Pizza in Flemington), but then we drove down the Delmarva Peninsula [40 Pictures] and across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel [27 Pictures]. The after dinner in Norfolk, we cut across southeastern Virginia [7 Picures] to Emporia for the night.

Sunday, July 21 - Emportia, Virginia, to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

The day's task was to get to Myrtle Beach, which we did by leaving Emporia around 9:30 getting us in after 3:00. We cut down a stretch of US 701 for a shorter distance but probably a longer time for the day's ride. [51 Pictures from the roads]
